Lovely vintage sterling pin set with 13 graduated, shimmering blue-grey pearls. Given the estate where purchased and the 'style' of the original owner, I judge these to be from the years 1970-80. I do not believe these to be fresh water pearls. I feel they could have been color treated, in in the water, or out. These are, I do believe, cultured pearls. Which further supports my year of manufacture timeframe. Fresh water pearls, at that time, were not plentiful...and, in fact...considered an oddity, in some cases they were considered elite and exclusive. There is a discernable weight present, suggesting a nicely built sterling mounting and, in the least, cultured salt water pearls. The hue ranges from pale grey/silver, to blue/green, grey/pink/blue. The color and depth is indicative of true quality.

| This is a truly lovely piece. The quality and craftsmanship are obvious. Measuring 2-1/2" in length and 1" in width, the pearls run from 5mm to 6+mm and sit upon silver leaves...sterling is clearly marked on the back. A lovely gift for a special loved one...or, perhaps for yourself! |
